The deliciously depraved outcome of an all-night rock nâ roll riot, âIn The Aftermathâ follows the release of Hollis Brownâs âGets Loaded,â saluting Velvet Undergroundâs Loaded Pre-order âIn The Aftermathâ HERE
Hollis Brownâs upcoming album, âIn The Aftermath,â is the deliciously depraved outcome of an all-night rock nâ roll riot. The Queens, New York-based quintet escaped to the Poconos to record with a few handles of whiskey, and, in one 24-hour session, ran down the Stonesâ seminal first album of all originals, 1966âs âAftermath.â Tracked live in the studio with minimal overdubs, âIn The Aftermathâ is potent proof the five-piece group is one of the last great American rock nâ roll bands. The album will be released on February 4th via Mascot Label Group/Cool Green Recordings.
âIt was a whirlwind recording sessionâwe were on no sleep, and getting liquored up. You can definitely hear the looseness on that final track, âGoing Home,ââ singer-guitarist Mike Montali recalls, laughing. He continues: âWe werenât focused on cleanlinessâwe were after a feeling.â
Coming on the heels of their most successful studio album to-date â 2019âs Ozone Park, which earned rave reviews from Rolling Stone, Billboard, Paste Magazine, Pop Matters, Relix, and Goldmine â âIn The Aftermathâ was an artistic inevitable for Hollis Brown. Previously, Hollis Brown issued, âGets Loaded,â saluting Velvet Undergroundâs âLoaded.â The five-piece band enjoyed doing the VU album so much they began to joke about doing a âHollis Brown presentsâŚâ series, covering formative records in their artistic continuum.
âAftermathâ became the Stones album to dive into for a myriad of reasons. For one, itâs become something of a lost classic as itâs the first album to contain all Stones originals, including the defining track, âPaint It Black.â Also, many of the songs are concise ultra-catchy rock nâ roll rave-ups that mine similar blues and country roots to Hollis Brownâs own signature aesthetic.
