De cd begint met een aankondiging op de radio, compleet met gekraak en gepiep. Daar wordt de muziek die de band maakt omschreven als een combinatie van bluegrass, blues, Ierse folk en punkrock, zelfgenaamd BluesGrass. Moonshine Blind, want hier hebben we het over, een 5-koppige formatie uit berquerque, New Mexico, noemt zichzelf een stel Alberquerque hooligans en zo klinken ze ook. De band bestaat uit zanger en gitarist Dylan O’Connor, drummer Dustin Brown, bassist Jay Bernstein, mandolinespeler Greg Dupy en harmonicablazer Skyler Loving.

Met “Cattle Guard” brengt de band hun tweede album uit, waarop tien nummers. En als ware hooligans gaan ze op hun instrumenten net zo te keer als een groep ‘voetbalfans’ dat doen op de fans van de andere partij, waarbij het niet uitmaakt welke club er wint of verliest. Stevig, uptempo, rampestampend. De meeste nummers gaan over zuipen, roken en keten. Toch wordt het wat serieuzer in nummers als “Mother Mary” en “Due Time”. De heren lijken haast een gevoelige snaar te hebben, die iemand geraakt heeft. Dat is onmiddellijk weer vergeten in het Iers aandoende “Shady Grove” en stampende “Velvet”, waarin niet al te galant wordt omgegaan met een jongedame. Ik denk de heren menig zaal op de kop kunnen zetten.

The CD begins with an announcement on the radio, complete with crackles and squeaks. There, the music the
band makes is described as a combination of bluegrass, blues, Irish folk and punk rock, self-called BluesGrass.
Moonshine Blind, because this is what we are talking about, a 5-member band from Alberquerque, New Mexico,
calls themselves a bunch of Alberquerque hooligans and that's what they sound like. The band consists of singer and guitarist Dylan O'Connor, drummer Dustin Brown, bassist Jay Bernstein, mandolin player Greg Dupy and harmonica blazer Skyler Loving.

With “Cattle Guard” the band released their second album, on which ten songs. And as true hooligans, they rage on their instruments just as a group of "football fans" do on the fans of the other side, no matter which club wins or loses. Firm, up-tempo, ramp-stamping. Most of the songs are about drinking, smoking and chain. Still it gets a bit more serious in songs like “Mother Mary” and “Due Time”. The guys almost seem to have a nerve that was hit someone. That is immediately forgotten in the Irish-like “Shady Grove” and pounding “Velvet”, in which a young lady is not treated too gracefully. I think the gentlemen can turn many a hall upside down.
