Het is een traditie die al een dikke 10 jaar bestaat: ” The Night Before The Day After”. Op de vrijdagavond voor Culemborg Blues spelen er in of bij verschillende horeca gelegenheden bands voor bezoekers die al in de stad zijn voor het festival, maar natuurlijk ook om de Culemborgers alvast in de stemming te brengen. Georganiseerd door de Culemborgse horeca. Dit jaar maar liefst 7 bands op 6 verschillende locaties op vrijdag 23 augustus.

Hey Moocher brengt je met haar vuige sound van bejaarde buizenamps en vintage bluesrepertoire terug naar een café in de jaren vijftig van de vorige eeuw: Er werd gerookt en gedronken. Mannen in driedelig pak, pet op en puntschoenen. Dames aan de bar die nergens voor betaalden.
Vanaf het podium klonk onversleten blues, een beetje jazzy. ‘The Story of Minnie The Moocher.’ Grooven, hypen en swampen De moochers spelen een stevige groove, hypen uptempo met swing en swampen zwaar in de twelve-bar-blues. Zo vertolkt Hey Moocher op haar eigen vuige wijze het repertoire van o.a. Little
Walter, Elmore James, Sonny Terry, Paul Lamb & The Kingsnakes, Cab Calloway en Muddy Waters.

Elvin Bishop, Alligator Records recording artist and Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer, was invited by Nobel Prize-winning music legend Bob Dylan to join him on stage and add his blistering slide guitar to Dylan's bluesy composition Early Roman Kings. The performance took place at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Although the two musicians have known each other since the 1960s, this is the first time Bishop has performed on stage with Dylan.
