Hoewel het debuut ‘Here Now, There Then’ van Dool uit 2017 al indrukwekkend en succesvol te noemen was (het kon rekenen op lovende recensies in binnen- en buitenland en zorgde er zelfs voor dat de band zowel in Nederland als Europa voet aan de grond kreeg) doet opvolger ‘Summerland’ daar nog een schepje bovenop. Soul- en R&B-zangeres Betty Wright is op 66-jarige leeftijd overleden. Dat maakt haar familie zondag bekend. Betty is bij ons vooral bekend om de jaren zeventig soulkraker Clean Up Woman en haar live-uitvoering van Tonight Is The Night, maar in haar thuisland is Betty’s hitreeks vele malen langer.

Corona legt de wereld stil. Alleen zij die actief zijn met zorg of in een andere essentiële beroep maken overuren om anderen te helpen. Niet zieken worden op een andere manier zwaar getroffen, zoals zij die werken in de culturele sector. Muziekliefhebbers kunnen niet naar festivals of cluboptredens, voor nog onbepaalde tijd. Die onzekerheid maakt angstig.
Bassist Blind B’ (in het dagelijkse leven Bart Kamp uit Etten-Leur) nam het initiatief om met bevriende muzikanten uit de Nederlandse blues- en soulscene samen iets te creëren dat iedereen toch ietsje dichter bij elkaar brengt, ook al is het dan op afstand. De bedoeling was een livestream, het werd een nieuw project met een videoclip: Blind B’ & The Mercenaries, bestaande uit nationaal en internationaal vermaarde artiesten.
