Sonny Landreth and Provogue / Artone have announced the release of “Lady On The Rise,” the first reveal from a new studio album coming in 2027. To preview the new recording,  ▼

 

The composition “Lady On The Rise” was written by Landreth, who performs guitars and vocals. Brian Brignac contributed drums and percussion, while Tony Daigle tracked keyboards. The track was produced by Landreth and Daigle, recorded, mixed and mastered by Daigle at Electric Comoland in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Landreth shares,”Oh man, after all this time, it feels great to have a new single coming out. That always gives me a boost and breathes new life into a project, so I’m excited to get it out there. I chose ‘Lady On The Rise’ because of the vibe I felt recording it in the studio this summer and because it’s a song inspired by hope.”

On September 16, Landreth will make his first appearance at Americanafest in more than twenty years when he performs on the day stage at Eastside Bowl alongside Grace Potter, Eli Paperboy Reed, and others. The performances will be broadcast live on WMOT Roots Radio, in partnership with NPR Music, World Café and Nashville PBS. The broadcast will be also be presented on NPR Music’s YouTube channel alongside Nashville PBS’s main channel. Landreth will also stage an official AMA showcase performance on Thursday the 17th at the Station Inn.

The south Louisiana artist’s groundbreaking work has long mixed familiarity with experimentation. His 2027 release will be his 15th. After two Grammy nominations, multiple appearances at Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival and wide-ranging acclaim from fellow players and fans worldwide, Landreth plans to continue mixing electric and acoustic settings onstage, with Daigle bringing the sounds and concepts of the recording studio to venue mixing consoles.

Historically, Landreth apprenticed with zydeco king Clifton Chenier’s Red Hot Louisiana Band and a host of other accomplished roots artists. Eric Clapton shared, “Sonny Landreth is probably the most underestimated musician on the planet, and also probably one of the most advanced.” His innovative guitar techniques have opened doors to new sonic textures and a complex tonal vocabulary, all bound by the bayou rhythms of his longtime bandmates. His expressive, ethereal guitar work can be heard on hundreds of recordings from artists ranging from John Mayall to John Hiatt.
