We included a live, 8 minute version of “Take the Long Way Home” dedicated to my dear friends in Supertramp, and included it with a song from one of my heroes, the late Jesse Colin Young.

 

"Promised Future" is 7 "road tested" CVB originals, which is better than 100 rehearsals.

Plus 2 covers: our live version of "Take the Long Way Home" is a tribute to Rick Davies, my dear friend & mentor who we lost last year. And "Light Shine" by Jesse Colin Young.

I wrote to Jesse as a teenage fan, amazingly he wrote me back! Finding that letter inspired our version, perfectly closing the album." (Carl Verheyen) The Carl Verheyen Band began in 1988 with longtime collaborator and bassist Dave Marotta (Phil Collins, Gino Vanelli, Neil Diamond). Since 2014 ace drummer John Mader (John Fogerty, Steve Miller, Booker T. Jones, Pat Benatar, Randy Newman, Bonnie Raitt) has played drums and percussion. 

Troy Dexter on keyboards and guitar (Venice, ChakaKahn, Wilson Phillips, Patti Au stin) is a multi- nstrumentalist who also sings and plays mandolin. And since 2023 vocalist Hollye Dexter (Michael McDonald, Dionne Warwick, Stephen Bishop, Christopher Cross, Don Felder) brings 4 part harmony into the mix.

Together these world-class musicians perform a stunning mix of rock, blues, jazz, country. A unique blend of all their many influences. Says Carl, “Over the last 38 years I've released albums under my own name as well as Carl Verheyen Band albums. In my way of thinking, there's a big difference. It rises out of the camaraderie and spirit that comes from weeks, even years on the road with the same good friends. Imagine leaving on a month-long tour, knowing you're about to have the next 90 meals with each other as you travel the next 9,000 miles together.
