On this Veterans Day, November 11, Americana/Folk singer-songwriter Ken Holt releases his heartfelt new single and music video, “Proud,” a moving tribute to family, service, and unconditional love. Available now on all major streaming platforms, “Proud” stands as both a personal testament and a universal message of gratitude—to fathers, sons, and all who serve.

The son of a U.S. Marine, Holt channels his own family’s story of courage and legacy into the song’s poignant verses. Framed by vivid storytelling, “Proud” explores the complexities of fatherhood, individuality, and shared devotion. The chorus—anchored by Holt’s soulful voice and acoustic Americana textures—resonates like a prayer: “I’m proud / Proud to be your dad / I’m proud of you / The best son I could have.”

“‘Proud’ is more than a song—it’s a reflection of every parent’s journey to understand, support, and celebrate their child,” says Holt. “I wrote it for my son, but I think anyone who’s loved someone unconditionally can relate. Releasing it on Veterans Day felt right—it’s about family, honor, and the values passed from one generation to the next.”

The accompanying music video, available on Holt’s official YouTube channel, portrays nostalgic family imagery, underscoring the song’s emotional depth. It’s both a tribute to Holt’s own father, a Marine, and a salute to all who have worn the uniform with pride.

Holt’s musical path has been one of lifelong dedication. From his early years as bassist for The Blend, a New England band that shared stages with The Who, ZZ Top, Hall & Oates, Charlie Daniels, and more, to his current work with Ken Holt and The Promise, Holt has remained grounded in storytelling and soul. His influences—ranging from Willie Nelson and The Allman Brothers to The Beatles—inform a sound that blends country, folk-rock, and bluegrass into an authentic Americana signature.

Beyond the stage, Holt has spent two decades as a Presbyterian pastor and youth minister, experiences that have shaped his compassionate worldview and creative purpose. His mission is clear: to make music that uplifts, welcomes, and connects.

“Music is how I say what’s on my heart,” Holt shares. “Whether I’m honoring family, faith, or just the beauty of being human, I want listeners to feel seen and inspired.”
