Blue Moon Marquee - GET YOUR FEATHERS READY.For some time now we have been very inspired by the Indigenous influence on modern North American music. We were so moved by the brilliant documentary ‘Rumble-The Indians Who Rocked the World’. Particularly the part where Pura Fe is singing along to Charlie Patton.
Al (A.W. Cardinal) had always heard this connection in his mind throughout the years… especially within Cree rhythms and melodies woven with early folk and blues. His bloodline is Woodland Cree from Northern Alberta.
Last year the dream finally came together and we recorded with the extraordinary Northern Cree, Northern Cree, also known as the Northern Cree Singers, a powwow and Round Dance drum and singing group based in Maskwacis, Alberta, Canada.

Stew Kirkwood captured the sounds. The experience was so profound and magnificent. We performed some of these songs for the first time out in the wild with Northern Cree for JUNO Awards.
