Shemekia Copeland Named Female Blues Artist Of The Year

Tommy Castro And The Painkillers Take The Award For Contemporary Blues Album For Closer To The Bone  

Blues Blast magazine has announced the winners of its 18th annual Blues Blast Music Awards. This year, Alligator Records artists Shemekia Copeland and Tommy Castro received honors.

Shemekia Copeland was named the Female Blues Artist Of The Year. Her most recent album is the GRAMMY-nominated Blame It On Eve.

Tommy Castro, leader of Tommy Castro & The Painkillers, was recognized for his 2025 release Closer To The Bone, winning the Contemporary Blues Album Of The Year Award.
