UP FROM THE ASHES, FROM OUT OF THE BLUE: SCORCHING NEW ORLEANS SONGWRITER

CHRIS VINCENT RELEASES NEW SINGLE, “CATHERINE THE GREAT,” SEPTEMBER 15TH
A Defining Storytelling Moment from His Critically Acclaimed Album, Good Crook

With the release of his powerful new single, “Catherine the Great,” on September 15th, New Orleans songwriter, slide guitarist, and roots artist Chris Vincent continues his emergence as one of the most vital and "important new voices in blues, roots, and Americana music today."

Universally praised for his new album, Good Crook, Vincent has been celebrated by critics as “powerful, imaginative, poignant, and defining”—a release that cements him not as a follower of tradition, but as a master storyteller bringing raw honesty and depth to American music.

“Catherine the Great” encapsulates Vincent’s gift for deeply personal storytelling. Originally inspired by a fleeting character from the ever-shifting cast of New Orleans’ French Quarter, the song took a profound turn just days after it was written. In a stark moment of clarity, Vincent—himself a recovering alcoholic—realized that the character of Catherine, worn down and hanging on by a thread, was in fact a reflection of himself at the end of his active addiction. What began as a portrait of another became an unflinching self-portrait of survival.

With Good Crook, Vincent has risen from the ashes of addiction to deliver an album brimming with grit, humanity, and uncompromising vision. Armed with Gloria, his trusted 1947 Gibson L-7 guitar, Vincent strips away artifice to offer songs of undeniable substance—music that stands apart from the sea of paint-by-numbers blues performers.

“Catherine the Great” is one of twelve original songs on Good Crook—a collection already hailed as “as real as the blues gets” and “at the top of the list of the best blues recordings of 2025.” With this single, Vincent proves once again that he is not just another player on the roots scene, but a songwriter whose voice is both urgent and essential.

“Catherine the Great” will be available on all streaming platforms September 15th.
