Luv in the New World, the beguiling new album by acclaimed Canadian singer-songwriter, Joe Nolan, which is scheduled for release on September 19 2025 on Beach House Records.

Hailed by The Globe and Mail as "an Americana wunderkind to watch out for," Joe Nolan is proving that praise well-deserved with his upcoming album, produced by Grammy Award-winner Tyler Chester.

Luv in the New World was recorded live off the floor in Los Angeles with an all-star lineup, including Jay Bellerose on drums (Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Willie Nelson) and Sebastian Steinberg on bass (Phoebe Bridgers, Lucinda Williams). Set for release in September, get ready - Joe Nolan is about to become a name everyone’s talking about.

Luv in the New World is a 10-track expedition, trespassing through the wild terrain of the heart. At its core is a primal hunger for love in its rawest, most human form - the kind that's truly unconditional. I wanted the lyrics to stand on their own, confronting uncomfortable truths: our uncertain future, the vast unknowns of the stars, and the realization that some answers I’ve spent my life chasing may never come.

PRAISE FOR JOE NOLAN

“Edmonton singer-songwriter Joe Nolan is a rising star on Canada’s folk-roots scene. A remarkable collection of slow-burning melancholia and a sure sign that Nolan is well on his way to distinguishing himself as one of Canada’s finest singer-songwriters.” Exclaim magazine

“As much as he’s a great songwriter, more importantly to me, he’s a masterful singer. The control he has over his voice is remark able; he knows how to manipulate articulation, intensity, and pitch change at key moments. Great albums like this remind us that it’s still a fine art form.” No Depression

“This music is thick and heavy with vibe.” Marco Giovino (drummer w/ Robert Plant, Norah Jones)

“Joe Nolan is a young, brilliantly talented, kind hearted, fellow traveler.” Colin Linden

“Joe’s performance was just from another planet. There were people crying, I cried. Dietmar Leibecke, Static Roots FestivalGermany

The album was produced in Los Angeles by Grammy Award-winning producer Tyler Chester (Madison Cunningham) and features a powerhouse line-up of musicians: Griffin Goldsmith (Dawes) and Jay Bellerose (Robert Plant & Alison Krauss) on drums, Sebastian Steinberg (Phoebe Bridgers, Lucinda Williams) on bass, Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek) on fiddle and backing vocals, and Dylan Day (Selena Gomez, Jackson Browne) on guitar.

Most of the album was recorded live off the floor to 1-inch tape, capturing the pulse and immediacy of these songs.

A virtuoso guitarist, elusive poet, and musical chameleon, Nolan was raised in the rural community of Sturgeon County, Alberta. Caught between two small northern towns, he found his place in this world at an early age, growing up alongside the North Saskatchewan River. Nolan has always lived on the outskirts and can be a hard one to pin down. Breaking genres and defying labels, he defines his sound as "These are my caravan diaries," claiming to go "wherever the muse takes me." He has garnered many accolades upon his shelf, including last year’s Canadian Folk Music Award nod for his 2023 release Lost Verses. However, he’d rather let those awards collect dust than bask in the limelight.

Known for his scrappy solo shows and arresting stage presence, Nolan’s songs are sometimes fragile and fractured, yet winningly wistful. In the next moment, he'll throw on his weathered newsboy cap and crank out a grit-soaked howl, paying homage to the Delta Blues. For a solo act, Nolan is a mountain, and audiences are his lifeblood.

He continues to dazzle fans across North America and Europe, performing around 150 shows a year. Wherever he goes, you’ll likely find him accompanied by his 2003 Dodge Caravan, named Rocco, and his trusty parlor guitar - small in size but mighty in sound.

His lyrics draw a harrow over the human condition, revealing secrets that only those daring enough to cross into uncharted territory could uncover. Nolan wears the highway on his sleeve, and if you look just far enough, you might catch a glimpse of him, barrelling down the one, in big sky country.

The Prince of Sturgeon County is on his way!

Two singles from the album have been released to date - ‘Wake Up Sleepy Anna’ (April 25) and ‘Too Much Time to Kill’ (June 6), with a further two - ‘Blood on the Pages’ and ‘Half a Tear, Half a Grin’ - set to follow on July 18 and August 22 respectively, prior to the album’s release on September 19.
