After taking a much-needed break from all that was involved in the recording process, we began the mixing and mastering the music at
Empty Pockets Studio in Grant Park, IL.

What you are about to hear is LIVE and no "studio magic" was added other than setting the equalizers.
There ARE mistakes made, but that's typical of a live performance.
It was a great evening. We sold out the venue and about 135 of our friends, family members and fans came out for a night of original music. We performed two sets of the same music. We performed thirteen songs and then we took a thirty-minute break. We took the stage a second time and performed the same songs over. That gave us two copies of each song to choose from - in case there were any mistakes. We filmed the entire show with the help of famed videographer Wesley Tabayoyong (video coming soon)
What you are about to hear is LIVE.

The band:
Marty “Big Dog” Mercer on guitar and vocals
Aiden Dehn on saxophone
Michael Bailey on bass guitar
Ra’Mar Leach on drums

1) Cookin’ with Grease.
A greasy Blues shuffle

2) Buddy, She’s All Mine.
A song I wrote for my wife, Tammi. I love her and I don’t deserve her.

3) Dig Your Own Ditch.
Dedicated, as a joke, to my dad.

4) Prelude.
An instrumental track originally recorded 2010 that was rewritten to include a harmonized saxophone part

5) Helpless.
Originally recorded in 2010 on the same album as Prelude. It’s a story about overcoming addiction.

6) I Feel Like I Could Die.
A story about being cheated on and the feeling that goes along with it.

7) Enough Changes.
A “retort” to the previous song title

8) Goin’ Back to Warrenpoint.
In dedication to “the prettiest place my eyes have ever seen.” - Warrenpoint, County Down. Northern Ireland UK

9) Real Foul Mood.
Waking up in the morning and thinking everything is going to be okay. Then…, everything turns to sh*t.

10)  Windy City Blues.
Originally recorded in  2010. Over fifty Chicago winters make me want to move somewhere warmer. Includes crowd participation at the end of the song.

11) Top of the Mournes.
An instrumental song with a slight “Celtic” feel. It is the feeling I got when I stood on top of a mountain in Kilbroney National Park in Northern Ireland.

12) My Little Georgiadore.
Dedicated to the finest example of a canine ever. My dog, Gibson.

13) Cook It for Me.
A song about a fat guy that likes to eat a lot of food and is looking for a woman to cook it for him

This is my first new release in close to NINE years &
I'm very excited for you to hear this album.

B I O
Hello, My name is Marty Mercereau, p.k.a. “Big Dog” Mercer. I am a full-time professional musician (guitar and vocals) performing 200 + shows per year in the Midwest and also abroad. In 2016, I was inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame at Legends in Chicago. I perform as a trio, four and five-piece band. The trio consists of guitar, bass and drums. To fill out the sound we add horns, saxophone and or trombone. We are not JUST a Blues band. We play Blues & do it well. We also perform original music and cover songs. We cover Blues, Rock, Jazz, Funk, Roots Rock & we might even play a Country song – all depending on the crowd in front of us. We also have a few sing-alongs to make the audience a part of the show. We have a long and ever-growing list of festivals, concerts, theaters, and venues we have been performing at for the last decade, including the Chicago Blues Festival and the International Guinness' Blues On The Bay Festival (UK). We're punctual, easy to work with, volume conscious professionals. We promote every performance, dress properly, and we perform a family-friendly show. We have a whole lot of fun while keeping it professional 100% of the time. Road-tested and audience approved, as we like to say.
