Singer-songwriter Jon Allen returns with his highly anticipated seventh album ‘Seven Dials’, a raw and captivating exploration of the dark corners of 18th- century Covent Garden in London. Known for his soulful voice and masterful storytelling, Allen dalves deep into the heart of a time when the streets teemed with vice and debauchery. He paints a vivid picture of the struggle, sin, and survival that defined daily life in this infamous neighborhood. The album is set for release on May 2nd, 2025 via V2 Records.

Inspired by the grim atmosphere and tales of Covent Garden's seedy underworld, ‘Seven Dials’ brings history to life through a modern musical lens. The album transports listeners to a world where poverty and despair bred crime, and morality was blurred by necessity. The title refers to a historic junction in the neighborhood, a gathering spot for society's outcasts, where life and lawlessness intertwined. With the rise of the Bow Street Runners, England's first professional police force, the streets witnessed early attempts at order amidst the chaos.

New single:

Allen's songs reflect the tension of those turbulent times. Each track on ‘Seven Dials’ immerses the listener in the lives of those navigating the dangerous alleys of the neighborhood, from cunning pickpockets to hardened beggars and desperate women working the streets. Themes of betrayal, struggle, and moral decay run through the music, delivered in a mix of acoustic grit and electric blues-rock, with lyrically rich storytelling. The haunting melodies and raw arrangements create a vivid soundscape that captures both the intense struggles and fleeting moments of hope from Covent Garden’s underbelly. ‘Seven Dials’ is more than just an album; it’s a time machine. Through evocative songwriting and a deep sense of history, Allen has crafted a record that speaks as much to the present as it does to the past, drawing parallels between then and now, where the fight for dignity in tough times remains a timeless story. It’s a gripping, hard-hitting addition to his discography.

Jon Allen has firmly established himself in the music scene, having graduated from the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. Influenced by artists such as Free, The Faces, Van Morrison, and Elton John, Allen harbors a deep love for American music, though his sensibilities have crafted a distinctly British sound.

A gifted songwriter with a whiskey-soaked voice that has become his trademark, Allen's career took off with his debut album, Dead Man’s Suit, which earned him an appearance on Later... with Jools Holland (BBC) early on. This exposure opened doors to sync opportunities for TV, advertising campaigns, films, and radio.
