Like a lot of other blues musicians of my generation, I was lucky enough to play shows and hang out with the great James Cotton, but this film has some footage of him singing and playing like I never heard before — It even captures one of his famous on-stage somersaults! The film also features interviews and performances featuring many contemporary blues heroes, as well as people who were essential parts of James's life........

I saw a premiere of this film at last year's BMA week in Memphis, and since then it has been featured in many major film festivals. It was one of five finalists nationwide for the Library of Congress Ken Burns Prize for Film, and was screened all over the country as well as London UK, Tel-Aviv, and the National Museum of African American Music in Nashville.
