Welcome! We are Tip Jar, and we write and perform melodic songs on the hippie side of country, spiced with some pop, folkrock and jazz influences.
The band is an international collective of musical friends around Bart de Win and Arianne Knegt: ranging from americana heroes as their Texan friends Walt Wilkins and Bill Small, to the Dutch snare magicians Harry Hendriks and Joost van Es. Tip Jar’s very unique and contagious americana and their love for American roots music already got them a stage at legendary places like Gruene Hall and Luckenbach and secured them a spot in the line-up of several music festivals in Texas.
Americana Highways magazine summons it all up: “Warm folky melodies that while pulled from a vintage source never sound too retro – because that’s the talent that this expressive band provides. The songwriting is strong & actually better than many American counterparts who wallow in cliches. The overall presentation is bold & flavorful like the finest food. The musicianship is always stellar. The band may be foreign, but their infectious Americana has caught the deep ears of audiences in Texas & that’s a hard group to impress

Previous reviews:Music on the Moon (Canada) The crisply delivered lead vocals Sit with power amidst the rolling piano lines, introspective yet imaginative lyricism, soaring intimate melody lines, ruminating arrangements and a clean mix/master. Row and emotionally resonant. Lonesome Highway (Ireland) Arianne sings with a real vibrancy on all songs included here and she dovetails beautifully with the more grounded vocol style of her partner, Bort. Folk World (UK) The two of them seem to fmd inspiration oil over the place, but it never sounds like o copy, but os a work of its own, which makes us wont to listen to a lot more of Tip Jar's work in the future. Oor De muziek van Tip Jar loot zieh moeiteloos meten met die van grote Americano artiesten von over de hele wereld. Tijdloze songs, prettig gezongen, virtuoos gespeeld. Musicmoker Smookvolle orrangementen, Sterke composities, mooie melodieen en een strokke productie. Een album am trots op te zijn. Heaven De internationale allure die hun vorige album werd toegedicht, krijgt moeiteloos consolidatie. Nederlands Dagblad Echt goed, je gelooft je Nederlondse oren niet. Eindhovens Dagblad Een metodieuze, warm geproduceerde plaat met rake teksten, waorop de beste country-orttesten het patent hebben. Bands als Tip Jar moet je met een lichtje zoeken. In Nederland, althans. Muziek als een arm die iemand om je heenslaat. Lust for Life Tip lar's eigen getuid laat zieh niet begrenzen door de beperkingen van welke muzikale stroming ook. Constante factor blijft de fraaie vocale harmonieen von De Win en Knegt. De klankklcur van hun stemmen is een regelrechte match en geeft de smaakvvlle eigen composities een extra dimenste. Real Roots Cafe Het is duidelijk. Betere Americana wordt in ons land niet gemaakt. I love these people and their fine music! Schaf maar aan en geniet!!! |
