New Jersey band Mirrors On The Moon are set to release their new single âDecember Bluesâ on December 16th. The songs were written and produced by frontman Donny Dykowsky and mastered by Grammy-nominated Joe Lambert (Mt. Joy, Sharon Van Etton, Black Crowes).âDecember Bluesâ is a soulful, garage-rock ballad with timeless chord changes and a singable melody that echoes artists like Led Zeppelin and the Beatles. The lyrics speak of longing during the holidays, but puts the blame on both sides with lines like âBought you presents, wrapped them nice. Are you still drinking, cuz Iâm still picking fights.â âDecember Bluesââ was recorded and mixed at Dykowskyâs production studio, The Ski Team. âMy first demo was very garage-rock, and I wanted to maintain that sensibility throughout the production.
Everything was tracked live with a bit of saturation. This song, like our last release âCalifornia,â was written just weeks ago, so itâs a thrill to release another song with a sense of urgency. That said, the coolest part of this song was having my twin 10-year old daughters sing backup vocals,â says Donny.
