Gulf Coast Records announces the signing of monster guitarist Jimmy Vivino, and will present an early Valentine’s Day gift to fans with the release of his label debut album, Gonna Be 2 of Those Days, on February 14, 2025. Special guests on Gonna Be 2 of Those Days include Joe Bonamassa and John Sebastian. Gulf Coast will release three new singles in advance of the album: “Blues In The 21st” (featuring Joe Bonamassa) – January 10, 2025; “Ruby Is Back” – January 24, 2025; and “Ain’t Nuthin’s Gonna Be Alright” - February 7, 2025.
"Jimmy Vivino has been a hero of mine for over 30 years,” said Gulf Coast president Mike Zito in making the announcement. “His incredible musicianship, passionate vocals, and powerful songwriting have always made him stand out. Jimmy is the consummate sideman, making everyone look and sound great. This new record, Gonna Be 2 of Those Days, puts Jimmy where I think he belongs: center stage. I am thrilled to have Jimmy Vivino join the GCR familia."
“I knew Mike and Gulf Coast would be the right label to put my music out,” added Jimmy Vivino. “I was the instant 3rd Blood Brother when we met, and expect a long association with many more exciting things to come.”
Although Vivino is perhaps best known for his long-standing run with The Conan O-Brien TV show house band, his multi-faceted career stretches to movies, Broadway and radio, in addition to his extensive recordings of his own albums, as well as special guest appearances on many others.
“Although I am proud to say I am currently a member of Blues Rock pioneers Canned Heat and co-produced our latest release, Finyl Vinyl, there’s just too much to list as far as played with this one, played with that one,” Vivino declares about his resume. “But in the end, I will list the people of importance pertaining to my growth as a musician. Yes, I’ve worked in every form of media in the business from movies and TV to Broadway, radio, recordings and concerts all the way down to funky little clubs. After all, I always say, ‘I’m just a Bluesman with a job.’”
One thing Vivino has learned over his 60-plus years as a musician was how to work. And he did and still does. As he says, “Nothing beats playing in live music venues and meeting people.”
A partial list of some of the artists he’s worked with, who he calls “family” and “mentors” who taught him the “ways,” includes Levon Helm, Phoebe Snow, Al Kooper, John Sebastian, James Cotton, Joe Louis Walker, Hubert Sumlin, Jimmie Vaughan, Johnnie Johnson, Laura Nyro, Odetta, Lowell Fulson, Son Seals, Donald Fagen , Darlene Love, Felix Cavaliere, Barry Goldberg, Nick Gravenites, Canned Heat with Fito de la Parra, Warren Haynes and just about anyone else who passed through New York City and needed a band that could play the Blues, Soul, Real Rock ‘n’ Roll and R&B.
Vivino summed it up by saying, “Being involved with the Conan show for 30 years has only deepened my experience and contact with people who stepped out of my record collection and into my life, and for that I am truly grateful.”
