Recensie: Harlem Lake - The Mirrored Mask Geschreven door Harrie Huisman Label: Jazzhouse Records Release: 27.09.2024 Het langverwachte album van de Nederlandse band Harlem Lake is dan een feit. Na het debuut album Ä Fools Paradise” is dit het tweede album die de titel mee kreeg “The Mirrored Mask” en is uitgekomen op het gerenommeerde platenlabel Jazzhaus Records. Wat resulteerde in een fris en uitdagend songs en geluild

 Het album opent met de twee voorgaande singels " Carry On” en “Fooled Again” en deze zijn  voorzien van de power vocalen van Frontvrouw "Janne Timmer" en alles omringt met lekker blaas arrangementen. om daarna met een wat rustiger nummer “ “To Tell You I’M Sorry” om je door deze plaat heen te wandelen. 

Met het wat funky nummer “Beggars Can’t Choose” blijf je niet stil zitten. Het akoestische “The Thought Of You” neemt Harlem Lake even wat gas terug, om daarna met een JJ Cale achtige “Crying In The Dessert” je omver te blazen met een vette gitaar solo. Hoe de band kan spelen in alle facetten is te horen op het instrumentale nummer ” Perlude To The The Mirrored Mask”

Totaal 10 Nummers met variatie van Dansbare “Temptation” en “Jack In The Box", tot Soul, en  Sfeervolle road songs op deze plaat.

Man wat een mega mooi vervolg op het vorige album “A Fools Paradise Vol 1 uit 2021, Hier was het wachten meer dan waard op  9/10

How the band can play in all facets can be heard on the instrumental number " Perlude To The The Mirrored Mask "

Man what a mega beautiful sequel to the previous album “A Fools Paradise Vol 1 from 2021, Here the wait was more than worth it at  9/10
