Met een setlist vol met soul klassiekers hebben ze razendsnel een reputatie opgebouwd in het Amsterdamse live circuit. Deze bagage heeft de band vervolgens ingezet om krachtige eigen nummers te schrijven. Hiermee heeft Soul Survivors het afgelopen seizoen wervelende optredens gegeven in veel Nederlandse clubs en festivals waaronder Jazz in Duketown, Zoetermeer Blues en Breda Jazz. De band heeft in korte tijd ook voet aan de grond gekregen in Duitsland met een groeiende fan base.
Na de release van een 7” 45 toeren vinyl in 2023 is nu het debuut album ‘The Road Ahead’ uitgebracht met tien soul krakers. De composities zijn geworteld in de classics uit de jaren 60 en 70 van Motown en Stax, maar hebben ook de moderne soul vibe. Mocht je weinig tijd hebben, luister dan in ieder geval naar track 3 You’re the One, een super soepel nummer dat zo op de radio kan. De band heeft de Rock Supplies in Amsterdam de Baarsjes als hoofdkwartier. Dit is waar gitarist Max de Kok en bassist Dimitri Gelens een studio hebben waar de nummers opgenomen worden. Zanger Remko Spaaij heeft die donkere soul stem die je in vervoering brengt.

Almost three years ago, we got together, played our first gigs, tasting the fun of it all. We found out that good soul music at this day and age still touches people of all ages, not only our own tender hearts... After a jump start freshly out of the pandemical lockdowns, we soon started writing our own songs and merged them with the regular covers. Fortunately our originals 'survived' the live sets and without hesitation, the aim for a Soul Survivors originals album started to materialize. Naturally, our homebase Rocksupplies Amsterdam became the birth place of all! September 13, it is finally going to happen! With the album title "The Road Ahead" Soul Survivors is marking its beginning as well as a sublime result of dedication and hard work! We have put our heart and soul into this.
