But it was not only MÃ¥neskin that attracted the attention of the public and those in the music industry: an Italian drummer was in fact chosen for a prestigious project that could only benefit from an experienced and talented musician.
Indeed, the extraordinary musicians Joe Bonamassa, Paul Rodgers and Bernie Marsden, together with the legendary Ginger Baker, have designed an extraordinary Cream tribute album.
The project honours Cream's legacy with a 15-track tribute featuring Pete Brown and Ginger Baker, as well as an impressive roster of renowned musicians who were inspired by the iconic supergroup, including Joe Bonamassa, Deborah Bonham, Malcolm Bruce, Peter Bullick, Nathan James, Bernie Marsden, Maggie Bell, Rob Cass, Clem Clempson, Paul Rodgers and Bobby Rush.
Moreno Buttinar en Joe Bonamassa in de Abbey Road-studio's in Londen |
It is in this prestigious context that Moreno Buttinar enters the scene.
Born in 1977, drummer, record producer and music publisher, Moreno Buttinar has been the rhythmic heart of Mike Sponza's band for 20 years, with whom he has recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, the albums from 2004 to the present day, including the last two produced by Rob Cass and written with Pete Brown.
During those recordings, Rob Cass and Pete Brown couldn't help but notice that this Italian drummer has an edge and his drumming definitely makes a difference.
So, in 2018, Moreno Buttinar received the proposal that every drummer would like to receive: 'We would like to do an acoustic record dedicated to Cream with many famous musicians. Ginger Baker won't be able to be at the rehearsals and there is a possibility that he won't be able to be available on all the tracks anyway ....How about you coming along?"
Moreno could only agree. Called in to support, he also made himself available to replace Ginger Baker in rehearsals before the recordings, finding himself playing with living legends of international rock.
The magnificent result is on the album 'Heavenly Cream' due out on 3 November 2023, recorded at Sensible Music and London's legendary Abbey Road Studios.
Not only is Moreno Buttinar featured on the tracks 'Deserted cities of the heart' with Joe Bonamassa and Bernie Marsden and the classic 'Born under a bad sign' with Paul Rodgers, but he will also be in the 'making of' documentary of the project, due out in the coming weeks.
