Combining elements of fuzzy indie rock, goth, and shoegaze, the band's broody and gritty sound is elevated by the soft, icy, but emotive melodies of singer Michelle Hindriks. 2022 saw the band achieve strong radio success with "Baby Don't You Know" hitting A-list on BBC 6Music in the UK, plus playlist support on NPO Radio 2, KINK FM and Radio Veronica in the Netherlands. Their debut UK headline tour in Autumn 2022 sold out in all major cities, and 2023 sees the band release 2 new EP's of material whilst touring internationally, among others with Blood Red Shoes and Pale Blue Eyes.
Of the single 'Shit Un My Body' Michelle says: "SHUT IN MY BODY IS ABOUT COMING TO THE REALISATION THAT YOU’RE NOT ALWAYS SAFE ON THE STREET AS A WOMAN AND LOSING THAT SENSE OF FEARLESSNESS YOU USED TO HAVE AS A KID. THE SONG IS ABOUT THE NEED FOR CHANGE IN THIS PERSPECTIVE AND NOT JUST ACCEPTING THINGS THE WAY THEY ARE - BUT ACTIVELY SHIFTING THE ATTITUDE, LOOKING AT IT AS A SOCIETAL CONCERN THAT DEMANDS COLLECTIVE ACTION, INSTEAD OF JUST PUTTING THE RESPONSIBILITY ON WOMEN."
"Sounding really super hot, the guitar sounds on this are a match made in heaven" - Jack Saunders (BBC Radio 1)
“chugging post-punk elements with warped synth pop, a kind of extra-dimensional pop song. A track that has evolved over time, it’s DIY menace is born from the immediacy CIEL apply to their live shows” – CLASH MAGAZINE
"That’s a big sounding single from them. That’s one of those butterfly from the cocoon moments where you hear a band starting to really take flight” - Steve Lamacq (BBC 6 Music)
“I really like it. I really like that juxtaposition of pop sensibility and that sweet melody with hard guitar music. I think it’s really really strong.” - Felix White (The Maccabees)
“The more I hear it the more I love it. In fact, I think it’s one of the best songs of the year so far” - Mark Crozer (The Jesus and Mary Chain/Radio DJ)
