Video for "Take My Love," featuring Bobby Rush.
Mizz Lowe was born Loretta Harris in Holmes County, Miss. Growing up in Greenwood, Miss., she sang in church and school and remembers walking through her house singing and dancing at age 6. She attributes her love of blues music to her father, who owned a café where she heard on the jukebox artists such as B.B. King, Denise LaSalle, Little Milton, Tyrone Davis, Johnnie Taylor, Fats Domino and, of course, Bobby Rush himself. Unconventional, sultry and seductive, with Classy Woman, Mizz Lowe has made an album whose 10 original songs must be beard to be believed. When Bobby Rush brought home the award for Best Traditional Blues Album at the 2017 Grammy Awards, Mizz Lowe was in attendance with him. As a dancer and opening act, Mizz Lowe has traveled the world with Rush, who co-produced, co-wrote and appears on her debut album, Classy Woman, released in June 2023.
