Release: Jon Allen - A Heightened Sense Of Everything

Jon Allen - A Heightened Sense Of Everything

Described as a musician’s musician, Allen's sound is built on a foundation of pop, rock, Americana, Roots and Blues influences. He has a soulful, whiskey-soaked voice and a striking gift for melody.
He has never been content to be pigeonholed, as demonstrated by the eclecticism of his albums to date.  Allen is a gifted lyricist and a true craftsman of song. When not working on his own material, Allen is a talented producer and writer for others.

His breakthrough came after he performed on BBC TV’s Later with Jools Holland in 2009. Since then he has toured with many of the musical greats including Mark Knopfler, Emmylou Harris, Seal, Damian Rice and Dionne Warwick. Allen's music has been globally successful with syncs in film, TV and advertising.

He continues to tour with his band The Luna Kings, made up of some of the UK's leading session musicians.

"We met and formed a band at music college over 20 years ago. We were young, hot headed and full of ego back then. I think that contributed to our breaking up. Time and experience have mellowed us and we are now able to enjoy the chemistry that we have which certainly is reflecting on the new album in a way that it almost feels as a second chance."

"The last couple of years have felt like a stressful situation that kept getting worse. The global pandemic caused more anxiety and paranoia, especially in busy cities. People realized they needed more space, silence and nature to escape the bustle of the city. The song ‘Back to the River’ on the new album expresses that desire whilst ‘Paranoia Blues’, as the title suggests evokes a sense of impending doom. The Will Smiths Oscar slap inspired the song ‘Heat of the Moment’. Events made me questions how close we are to our limit and how people will react when pushed to the edge. Heightened emotions create interesting human psychology for me as a creative. In that sense the music seeks to understand the fine line where people turn from caring for each other and their society to showing animosity towards that same society. The music reflects the feelings of anxiety and longing for connection and in the end my hope is that my music touches people, whether it's joy or sadness, and perhaps help them understand things better in their own lives”.

A Heightened Sense of Everything' will be released on August 25th via V2 Records.
