We are excited to announce that John McDonough will release his new EP, “We’ll Answer the Call” on Friday June 17th 2022
“To say John is obsessed with this story EP is an understatement,” John McDonough laughs when asked about Joe Rantz, the Washington Huskies 1930’s rowing program, and their epic bid for gold in the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games. “I have even flown to Seattle to see the Husky Clipper, the original and restored eight-man boat used to win gold in Berlin!” With these five songs, McDonough tells the complete story of Joe Rantz and his unbelievably difficult childhood, his love affair with future wife Joyce Simdars, struggling to reach his potential as a person and oarsman in college, and ultimately achieving the highest levels of self-actualization in becoming an Olympian and winning gold.
