Troy Redfern’s new single “Come On” and forthcoming studio album “The Wings of Salvation” (released by RED7 Records on September 23^rd).  The single is out today, as is the accompanying music video.

Troy’s blues-rock slide guitar playing on “Come On” is riveting. The sing-along chorus is infectious. There’s a definite T. Rex guitar boogie vibe here. The Sweet must have rubbed off on Troy when he toured with them last year.

Famed Chicago blues guitarist and vocalist Jim Schwall -- co-founder of the influential and popular Siegel-Schwall Band -- died of natural causes at his home in Tucson, Arizona on Sunday, June 19, 2022. He was 79. Known for his distinctive guitar sound -- he played an amplified Gibson B-25 acoustic -- Schwall helped introduce the blues to the rock and roll audience with his easy-going, good-natured music. He was also a political activist, a teacher, a photographer and a writer.

Met de zijn broer Farah kwam hij in de vroege 2000 jaren menig keer langs in onze contreien als The Nourallah Brothers en gaf daarmee menig keer een sessie bij o.a. VPRO en anderen. Als groot fan van the Kinks, Nick Lowe en andere Britse Bands zoals Diesel Park West blijft deze vorm muziek het pluspunt voor Salim. Met oud Church man Marty Wilson-Piper heeft hij een song opgenomen “Hold On To The Night” het is tevens het eerste nummer van de See You In Mantra EP! Pinkpop 2022 was de eerste Pinkpop zonder Mr. Pinkpop. Jan Smeets is namelijk festivaldirecteur af. Maar echt weg is hij natuurlijk niet. Vanavond nam officieel afscheid van de man waarmee het allemaal begon. Thanks legend!

Goud van OuD: Susan Boyle

Susan Boyle (Blackburn, Schotland, 1961) wordt bekend als ze in 2009 meedoet aan de talentenwedstrijd Britain’s Got Talent. Iedereen is stomverbaasd over haar schitterende stem als ze een stuk uit Les Miserables zingt. Het filmpje op Youtube is in 2009 meer dan 120 miljoen keer bekeken. Ze eindigt overigens als tweede. In 2009 verschijnt haar eerste plaat, I Dreamed a Dream getiteld. Haar tweede cd, een kerstplaat uit 2010, is getiteld The Gift. Deze plaat wordt opgevolgd door Someone To Watch Over Me in 2011. Standing Ovation – The Greatest Songs From The Stage is de titel van de plaat die Susan Boyle in 2012 uitbrengt. Home For Christmas verschijnt in 2013. Die krijgt in 2014 een vervolg in het album Hope. Susan Boyle neemt in 2015 een jaartje vrij. In 2016 verschijnt A Wonderful World, een plaat die zij omschrijft als muziek voor de hele familie het hele jaar door.
