Little Hat – Biography
Imagine yourself cruising down the highway with a beat on the radio that won’t let you take your foot off the gas. The drums keep stomping and the guitar is smoking like a Mississippi hay fire. Cops may try to stop you, but they’ll never get you. The vocals roar “catch me if you can”, while the harmonica squeals away like a mock-siren. Little Hat offer a perfect combination if you’re looking for some risk!
Machiel Meijers (Stackhouse) sounds raw and passionate on vocals and harmonica. This couples well with the primitive yet masterful guitar sounds of Dutch Blues Hall of Fame inductee Willem van Dullemen (Groovetones). Four on the floor, ace drummer Paolo de Stigter’s (Dr Velvet) right foot will make you forget there is no bass player in this outfit. It may be tempting to think that lack of bass means lack of power, but make no mistake: this alternative power-trio keeps on rocking so you can keep on rolling! Close your eyes and you can almost see a mean looking one-man band playing a relentless groove in the last remaining corner of a noisy barndance.
Releasing debut-album ‘Wine, Whiskey and Wimmen‘ and winning the Dutch Blues Challenge have opened the way for the band. Their second album “Rocking this joint tonight” is also produced by Little Victor and picks up where they left off: a search for everything rare and sleazy. Think forgotten Louisiana dirt roads and jukejoints at last call. So hold on to your hats, and get ready to shift into high gear!
