In een bomvolle kleine zaal van Hedon was dinsdagavond de aftrap voor een nieuw seizoen Bluesworld Café. 

Dit keer had de groep uit Groningen “The Woods”de eer om dit nieuwe seizoen af te trappen en HOE!

Een muziekmix mix wat alle kanten op gaat van sterke uptempo nummers tot slow blues en van Rock tot bluesrock.

Joris Bos Gitarist en zang is sterk beïnvloed door Jonny lang.  

Op vijf oktober doet deze band een poging om de finale te winnen van de Dutch Blues Challenge 2025

De Hele Woods band bestaat uit:

The Woods is een moderne blues-rockband uit Groningen, opgericht in 2016. Ze spelen een fusie van zeventiger jaren rootsy rock, soul en blues. Leadzanger en gitarist Joris Bos componeert en toert al sinds zijn 15e. Hun muziek kenmerkt zich door soulvolle vocalen en melodische solo’s met bulderende toetsen. De EP ‘Good to see You’ werd enthousiast ontvangen en door onder andere het vakblad de Gitarist gerecenseerd als een ‘Waanzinnige EP’. De single ‘Underneath the Sun’ kreeg langdurige (radio) airplay op onder andere NPO Soul en Jazz.

The Woods is een ervaren band die genieten van het samen muziek maken. Ze brengen een volle bak enthousiasme op het podium. Leadzanger en gitarist Joris Bos heeft door de jaren verschillende bands gevormd, met bassist Martijn altijd als zijn trouwe muzikale partner, sinds 1999.

Ze hebben vier albums uitgebracht: Stone Cold (2019), Hurricane (2021), ‘Good to See You’ en hun meest recente album ‘ Live at Vera’ begin 2025.

Finale Dutch Blues Challenge 2025

The Woods is a modern blues-rock band from Groningen, formed in 2016. They play a fusion of seventies rootsy rock, soul and blues. Lead singer and guitarist Joris Bos has been writing music and touring since the young age of 15. Their songs are characterized by soulful vocals and melodic solo’s with roaring keys. Their latest EP ‘Good to see you’ was well-received and their single ‘Underneath the Sun’ gained substantial airplay on among others NPO Soul and Jazz. Dutch Guitar magazine ‘Gitarist’ reviewed their album as an ‘Amazing EP’.

It’s clear how much joy they experience on stage, as these men truly love making music together. Over the years, Joris has formed several bands, but bassist Martijn has always been his loyal musical partner, ever since 1999.

They have released three EPs: Stone Cold (2019), Hurricane (2021), and Good to See You (2024).
Their music is full of hints of soul, blues, rock and even funk, and really comes alive during their energetic live performances.
