The Amsterdam/New Zealand-based MY BABY consists of singer/multi instrumentalist Cato van Dyck, who with her expressive voice and bass, guitar and violin playing forms the glue that connects the various musical genres, her brother Joost van Dyck, who lays the foundation with his rousing dynamic rhythms, and New Zealand guitar virtuoso Daniel "Dafreeze" Johnston, who enriches the whole with conjuring arpeggios and vicious slide-guitar riffs.
Live, MY BABY is an experience. With just the three musicians and their instruments, they guarantee dazzling shows which are dynamic, danceable and melodic. Over the past 10 years, they have built an impressive live reputation worldwide with performances at three editions of the world famous Glastonbury Festival (UK), prominent festivals such as Lowlands (NL), Pinkpop (NL), Sziget (HU), and the Exit Festival (RS), among others. Not only at pop festivals, but also at several editions of Womad (UK, Australia, New Zealand), North Sea Jazz Festival (NL) and dance festivals such as Lightning in a Bottle (USA), MY BABY manages to cross cultural and musical boundaries.

Since their formation in 2012, they have stood out for their powerful live performances and their ability to create an immersive, almost mesmerizing atmosphere. Their signature sound is an impressive mix of musical styles: blues, country, funk, dance and a good dose of psychedelica. Throughout MY BABY's body of work exists a recurring thread of a fictional muse, a protagonist, a heroine. But a particular identity is never explicitly developed or established. It is a rather a collection of like minded heroines in a series of vignettes that convey a sensibility of the thematic core. The songs follow or expose a character who goes through trials and tribulations and seeks out new ideas or ways of being. This either through a contemporary fictional narrative, accounts of historical figures or an amalgam of various influences.

This album is an exploration of echoes—both literal and metaphorical—drawing from ancient myths, feminine archetypes, and the endless reverberations of time.
