CHRIS VINCENT’S GOOD CROOK HERALDS A MAJOR VOICE IN MODERN AMERICAN MUSIC

Vincent Emerges as a Master Storyteller and Leading Figure in Contemporary Blues, Roots and Americana

With the August 1st release of his Good Crook album, New Orleans songwriter and slide guitarist Chris Vincent stakes his claim as one of the most vital voices in blues and Americana today. He's backed by his band The Raw Deals on this recording featuring legendary New Orleans drummer Johnny Vidacovich and Billboard-charting bassman extraordinaire Dean Zucchero.  Vincent, either in solo, duo, or trio format, draws on the hard truths of the human condition, delivering a record hailed by Luxury Experience Magazine critic Edward Nesta as “powerful, imaginative, poignant, and defining,” and later praising the album’s great improvising coupled with grit and vision resulting in a commanding message.”

From the infectious stomp of the title track to the raw nerve reality of “Midnight After All” and the genre-defying surrealism of the all-or-nothing anthem, “Screwdriver Keys,” Good Crook is being celebrated as a “deep and alive release...that cuts through modern artifice with grit, vision, and vulnerability. 'There’s no filler here,' notes Michael Limnios of Blues.GR, 'Just fire, honesty, and the kind of raw vulnerability most modern recordings shy away from.”

Tom Clarke of Making a Scene calls Good Crook “as real as the blues gets,” adding that “Vincent’s Good Crook has steadily and surely made its way to the top of my list of original blues recordings of 2025.”

Built on one-take performances recorded live by the Grammy award-winning engineer Jake Eckert at Rhythm Shack Studios, Vincent's 1947 Gibson L7, and the storied groove of the legend that is New Orleans, Good Crook is a testament to Vincent’s fierce independence and commitment to authenticity. With a guitar in hand and a storyteller’s eye, Vincent pulls no punches. His writing is “economical, unflinching, and emotionally loaded...balancing lyrical detail with soul-deep conviction."-Limnios

Far more than a blues album, Good Crook is an artistic statement—a visceral, hand-played, hand-written answer to the question of what American music still can be.

“Good Crook" is poised to cement Chris Vincent and The Raw Deal as one of the most important voices in roots, blues, and Americana music today.
