Alex Williams & Cody Jinks cover the Prince of Darkness Plus 2 Europe Alex Williams Dates

OzzyMusical compatriots Alex Williams and Cody Jinks may be primarily known for playing Country Music, but they wear their Heavy Metal fandom on their leather sleeves. It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to their fans that the pair decided to collaborate on a cover of an Ozzy Osbourne classic.  "I’ve always been a fan of all the Black Sabbath records, especially Ozzy’s solo stuff.”

Williams explains. “‘Flying High Again’ has always been a favorite of mine, and it was a lot of fun to work up my own version of this monster of a song. Also an honor to have my friend Cody Jinks be a part of it." Jinks adds, "Alex got a hold of me and asked if I would be a part ‘Flying High Again’, I said, ‘Hell Yeah’. Alex and I have played a lot of shows together and singing on an Ozzy song with him makes all the sense in the world!" 

The duet is no note-for-note redo of the Osbourne single. They take the tune to the bayou and turn it into a swampy Country groove. In fact, producer Ben Fowler didn’t tip off the studio musicians to the lyrics or song title before recording so the players wouldn’t be influenced by the original playing Osbourne / Randy Rhoads composition from the Diary of a Madman LP. The resulting tribute honors the original but also allows Williams and Jinks some room to make it their own.
